I have been travelling the world and describing it in books, magazines and newspapers for over thirthy years. Using words as my paint and brushes, I write portraits of towns and countries in motion, of people that I have met, of nature and landscapes undergoing change – always in search of the secret soul of places, always making unexpected discoveries and still being amazed despite all the beauty I have seen. Step by step, I have toured countries and cities which were later turned into guidebooks – from India to Morocco, from Jerusalem to Pakistan, from Ireland to Turkey, from Corsica to Puglia.
About
Although born on Como Lake, I have always lived in Milan. After graduating in Law, I started work at Radio Regione. In the meantime, I contributed to the national dailies La Repubblica and L’Unità, as well as TeleMilano2.
A journalist since 1982, I have worked freelance for the main travel magazines (Traveller, Bell’Europa, Tuttoturismo, Qui Touring, Gulliver, Atlante, Vie del Mondo, Weekend e Viaggi, Gambero Rosso, Viaggi e Sapori, V & S), for women’s magazines (Elle, Tu, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Vera Magazine, Donna Moderna, Anna, Io Donna, D la Repubblica delle donne, Bella, Pratica, Lei, Per Lui), and for lifestyle magazines (Sette, Il mondo, and Capital).
In 1993 I was the editor of Voyager, an IT service of Videotel. In 1994 I supervised the first edition of the first Guida agli Alberghi d’Italia, De Agostini Gambero Rosso. In 1996 I contributed, with the guide book Dublin, to Le città della musica (video, guidebook and music CD) produced by Heineken. In 2001 I set up the magazine Lungolivigno, in 2009 LungoLivignofashion and in 2011 AriAlpina. In 2013 I was editor of Citytube, tourist guide on the subway, selected by Creative Camp Lombardia, as innovative start up for Expo 2015.
At the same time I have been the author of several travel guides. Scozia Oscar Mondadori (1991), Sardegna ClupGuide (1993), Pakistan ClupGuide (1995), Sicilia GeoMondadori – Dorling Kindersley (1998), I Castelli della Scozia Whitestar and Irlanda Airplane (1999), Palestina e Terra Santa GeoMondadori – Dorling Kindersley (2000), Scozia Airplane (2001), Italia del Centro and Italia del Sud GeoMondadori – Dorling Kindersley (2001), Corsica GeoMondadori – Dorling Kindersley (2002), Olanda Giunti (2008), Istanbul WE Giunti (2009), Marocco Touring Editore (2010), Marrakech WE Giunti (2011), India del Nord Touring Editore (2011), Istanbul and Irlanda Touring Editore (2012), Siviglia WE Giunti (2012), Puglia Giunti (2012), Turchia Touring Editore (2013), Dublino WE Giunti (2014), Marocco Touring Editore (2014), Milano WE Giunti and Vienna Touring Editore (2015), Rajasthan Touring Editore and Istanbul Slow Food-Touring Editore (2016).
In 2016 I started writing Assaggi di Viaggi on blog.turbolento.net while I am working at new projects: a digital magazine with Ornella d’Alessio and an ebook on the Wild Atlantic Way, the scenic route on the west coast of Ireland, with the wonderful pictures of Andrea Pistolesi. Keep in touch.
